The participants shared the need to radically change the existing regulatory framework through a bill of the popular initiative objectives: the protection of the resource and its quality, ripubblicizzazione integrated water services and management of the same by means of participatory democracy. The text, which bears the title "Principles for the protection, the government and the public management of water and provisions for ripubblicizzazione Water Service" , was subjected to collective discussion and final approval in the National Assembly on 7 October 2006 in Florence and for the first six months of 2007 was the focus of a national campaign to collect signatures throughout the country.
